On his debut LP, Jardín, Gabriel Garzón-Montano sings of the struggles and uncertainties of the multilayered game that is America today, from the specific doubt and double consciousness of the first-generation hustle, to the universal challenges of love, legacy, and exploring the maze of one’s mind. A child of immigrant parents, the Brooklyn-born Garzón-Montano has an aesthetic that is an extension of his French-Colombian heritage.

Jardín followed three intense years of touring, writing, and recording. Soon after the 2014 release of his debut EP, Bishouné: Alma del Huila, Garzón-Montano was invited by rock legend Lenny Kravitz to be direct support on 23 concerts across Europe. The day after playing Wembley Arena, he received a call notifying him that his song “6 8” would be sampled by Drake on his full-length, If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (and again two years later on More Life). In the months following, Garzón-Montano was featured at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits.

In 2017, Jardín was met with praise by critics and fans—it was listed as one of NPR’s 10 best R&B albums of 2017 and ranked no. 5 on KCRW’s albums of the year. Garzón-Montano collaborated with several female rappers, including Little Simz and Junglepussy, for a series of remixes with verses over the Jardín instrumentals, which became playlist favorites. The album was showcased further by appearances on NPR’s Tiny Desk and the nationally syndicated program World Cafe; headlining shows in the U.S., Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia; and festival stops such as Primavera Festival in Spain and SummerStage in New York.

In early 2018, Garzón-Montano released “Golden Wings,” an upbeat track with an infectious rhythm accompanied by a video shot in Death Valley, California, keeping his growing audience eager for his next body of work, which is imminent.
