FREE Pickup Ultimate Frisbee (Hosted by BUDA) - APRIL

Join BUDA (Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance) for the first session of buDEI pickup on April 24th from 12-2pm at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.

What is buDEI pickup?

The BUDA Equity Committee will be hosting a series of free pickup games for people of all skill levels. We seek to foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment in which to play and learn Ultimate.

In this series of games, we will experiment with different ways to eliminate gendered language in the sport, make play more equitable, and create community for people of different races, genders, abilities, and backgrounds.

Who is this event for?

We encourage players of all experience levels, identities, and backgrounds to join! This is perfect for both experienced players who want to play in a different setting than usual BUDA leagues, and for new players who want to try out Ultimate without the pressure of signing up for a whole season.

What can I expect at this pickup game?

At this first event, we will ask that participants match up against players of their similar skill or effort level, rather than by gender.

There will be a post-event social (with snacks!) to have a conversation about what worked, what didn’t, and what you want to see at the next buDEI pickup.

How will I get to the field?

Dilboy Stadium is a 25-minute walk from Davis Square and is close to the 87 and 88 bus routes. We will also have rides available coming from Davis Square – please fill out this form if you will need a ride or can give a ride (https://forms.gle/MChPPgvSx1YhBGHK9).

What should I bring?

Water, cleats (or sneakers), a white and a dark (black, navy, etc.) shirt, and anything else that you need to run around and play safely!

COVID-19 Safety:

There are currently no state or local COVID-related mandates in place, but players are welcome to wear masks or take whatever health precautions needed to feel comfortable. For everyone’s safety, we advise anyone who feels under the weather or is experiencing virus symptoms that they do not attend.
