Since 2003, the Gardner Museum has invited the public in for free admission on Frank Hatch Free Day in honor of Francis “Frank” Hatch (1925-2010), a longtime Museum trustee and supporter of the arts and culture in the city, as well as a well known community advocate in Boston politics.

Free admission will be available at the Museum entrance on Monday, September 1 starting at 11 am, on a first-come, first-served basis.
To ensure everyone’s experience at the Museum is pleasant, entry is timed every 30 minutes beginning at 11 am, with the last entry at 4 pm.
Due to capacity regulations, the Museum may only admit a specific number of visitors at once. For your safety and the safety of the collection, visitors may be asked to wait in line to enter.
Admission includes access to the entire Museum, including special exhibitions.

ABOUT FRANK HATCH FREE DAY
Frank Hatch Free Day was traditionally held on New Year’s Day, but officially moved to Labor Day in 2013 to allow visitors to enjoy the exterior spaces and gardens. On Monday, September 1, the Museum will honor the memory of Mr. Hatch when it opens its doors to all with free admission.

As a civic and cultural leader, Mr. Hatch served on the Board of Directors of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for more than 30 years, including as Chairman of the Second Century Fund.
