In this virtual faux calligraphy course, you'll learn the basics of creating those beautiful letters with any normal pen or pencil. You won’t need fancy pens or tools to get started. Faux calligraphy is the easy way to get started with hand lettering and is the preferred method of professional calligraphers for writing on unusual surfaces like mirrors, chalkboards, glass, and more! We'll start on paper for this course and by the end of the workshop you’ll be hand lettering your own holiday ornament set! For the ornament set, you can choose from a set of 4 birch wood rounds or set of 2 round acrylic ornaments.
To participate in the workshop, you'll need to purchase the $20 ticket. You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member without having to pay for an extra ticket. If you're able to share a screen comfortable, then you can invite as many loved ones as you'd like!
For the faux calligraphy part of the workshop, all you need is lined paper and a regular pen or pencil.
Material kits are provided at $30 each if purchased by October 28th. Please choose between the wood or acrylic ornament sets. Each material kit will have the ornaments painted with holiday colors and tied with ribbon or twine, 3 acrylic paint pens, and a couple personalized surprises by me! The material kits will be mailed to you.
If you'd like to purchase the materials on your own, a material list will be provided via email. No worries if you ran out of time to buy the materials! You'll still be able to practice your new faux calligraphy skills and learn tips/tricks of writing on the ornaments and other unusual surfaces.

Meet your workshop host, Marilyn! Marilyn is a calligrapher and the owner of Fonts and Flourishes Co.. Three years ago, she picked up a brush lettering pen after her recent engagement and was determined to hand letter her invitation envelopes. After teaching herself and hours of practice, she not only hand lettered her envelopes but also created the signage for her big day! Now she continues to hand letter pieces big and small for wedding, events, and home decor.
