Looking for a fun-gi way to spend your Saturday? Join Elizabeth Almeida of Fat Moon Mushrooms for a pop-up! She will be sampling and selling some of her favorite varieties grown in her indoor facility in Massachusetts. Stop by to learn more about her process, her favorite cooking techniques, and how to sign up for her CSA!


This is a free, open-house style event where customers are invited to meet with a like-minded business.

Directions: The Spice Lab is immediately adjacent to our spice shop, at 2267 Massachusetts Ave. Metered parking is available along Mass Ave, or there is a lot at the intersection of Day Street and Herbert Street towards Davis Square if you don't mind a quick walk!


Elizabeth Almeida has been devoted to food, farming, family, and community throughout her life. She grew up on a multi-generation cattle farm in Ohio, where her family grew, canned, and froze their own veggies and meat. As a kid, Elizabeth was active in 4-H and FFA, winning many awards in livestock and cooking, including Grand Champion Chickens!

After college, Elizabeth spent a year living and volunteering in the Appalachian region of eastern Kentucky, where her eyes were opened to justice issues, including:

She left Appalachia with a commitment to continue to work for justice. She lives out her values at Fat Moon, where she produces the healthiest of foods, recycles farm waste into a soil-enriching compost for local farms, and gardens, and provides jobs for her community. Fat Moon Mushrooms can be found in numerous local farmstands and farm to table restaurants around Eastern Massachusetts.
