Kids and grownups are invited to join The Fabric Workshop and Museum for collaborative art-making activities around the themes of shoes and movement. Led by Museum educators, families will also have a chance to explore artist-in-residence Lenka Clayton’s exhibition, "Object Temporarily Removed." This program takes its inspiration from Clayton’s "One Brown Shoe" project, on view in a survey of the artist’s recent works.
Clayton’s art plays with accepted rules of everyday life, extending the familiar into the poetic and absurd. In this spirit, families will use “sole stamps” made from repurposed shoes to create their art on paper and plaster with their feet. Participants are encouraged to use the shoe stamps to evoke movement on paper by walking, stomping, and even dancing!
This program is taught by the Museum’s Education Staff, and all materials will be provided by The Fabric Workshop and Museum.
Free and open to all families
Recommended ages: 4–12 years
