Hear influential figures from the Jewish culinary world come together for a conversation celebrating the rich traditions of Jewish cooking in America and around the globe. Featuring prolific cookbook author Joan Nathan, renowned chef and co-owner of Philadelphia’s Zahav restaurant Michael Solomonov, Philadelphia restauranteur and Zahav co-owner Steven Cook, and Saveur Blog of the Year award-winner Molly Yeh. Moderated by Devra Ferst of Tasting Table. Cook and Solomonov’s Zahav, Nathan’s King Solomon’s Table, and Yeh’s Molly on the Range cookbooks will be available for sale and signing.

Steven Cook is one of the country's top hospitality entrepreneurs and a 2016 James Beard Award winner for "Best International Cookbook” and "Book of the Year" with co-author and business partner, Chef Michael Solomonov, Steven Cook is the co-owner of some of Philadelphia and New York’s most distinctive restaurants including Zahav, Abe Fisher, Dizengoff, Federal Donuts and the newly opened, Rooster Soup Co. Prior to starting CookNSolo, Cook was the owner and executive chef at Marigold Kitchen, where he first partnered with Solomonov. Cook is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the French Culinary Institute. He left a job as an investment banker in New York to return to Philadelphia and pursue a career as a restaurateur.


Devra Ferst (moderator) is the senior editor at Tasting Table and the former food editor of the Jewish Daily Forward. When she's not writing, you can find her cooking in her tiny Brooklyn kitchen, hanging out at the shuk in Jerusalem or teaching cooking classes.


Joan Nathan is a frequent contributor to The New York Times and other publications. She is the author of eleven books, including Jewish Cooking in America and The New American Cooking, both of which won both James Beard Awards and IACP Awards.


Michael Solomonov is the executive chef of Zahav and co-owner of Abe Fisher, Dizengoff, Federal Donuts and Rooster Soup Co., Michael Solomonov is widely regarded as one of the country’s top chefs. He is the recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic (2011), and in 2016, became a JBF winner for “Best International Cookbook” and “Book of the Year” for his first cookbook, Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, co-authored with business partner Steven Cook. Before partnering with Cook on CookNSolo restaurants, Solomonov worked under such top chefs as Marc Vetri and Terence Feury. Born in Israel and raised in Pittsburgh, Solomonov frequently travels back to Israel to be inspired to create, as the New York Times put it, “simple food with layers of flavor.”


Molly Yeh is the author of the IACP award-winning cookbook, Molly on the Range, which was one of New York Times’ top fall cookbook releases of 2016. She is the creator of the food blog, my name is yeh, which showcases recipes inspired by Molly’s Chinese and Jewish roots, her travels near and far, and her upper-Midwest surroundings. my name is yeh was Saveur’s 2015 Blog of the Year and Yahoo’s 2014 Food Blog of the Year. Molly has been featured by the New York Times, Food and Wine, Bon Appetit, and New York Magazine, and she has contributed to Vanity Fair, Saveur, Condé Nast Traveler, Lucky Peach, Food52, and as a columnist to the Jewish Daily Forward. She was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for 2017 and Apartment Therapy’s 10 Under 40 list for 2016. Outside of the kitchen, Molly is a Juilliard-trained percussionist and has performed with orchestras around the world, in off-Broadway theater, and as the glockenspielest for the pop-band San Fermin. She lives on a farm on the North Dakota-Minnesota border with her fifth-generation farmer husband and their little flock of chickens.
