The Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival returns with a packed line-up of shows at the Shubert Theatre in Boston and the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge.

Pretty Good Friends is a Brooklyn-based comedy collective created by long-time collaborators Eugene Mirman and Julie Smith Clem. Their eponymous standup comedy show is hosted by Eugene Mirman, and features his funniest and most talented friends. Pretty Good Friends has appeared at SF Sketchfest, SXSW, Just For Laughs and had its own 10-night run at the Soho Theater in London, as well as its own tour in the U.S. The show was named “New York’s Best Indie Comedy Night” by New York Magazine, who called it: “The best mix of format and talent for a comedy show…screwball stand-up, stories, skits, and short films.” www.prettygoodfriends.com

TV Guidance Counselor is a new podcast about old TV, hosted by Boston-based comedian Ken Reid. The premise is: Ken owns every TV Guide from 1980-1995. His guest picks a random TV Guide, writes down everything in it that they want to watch, and the podcast is the discussion of their choices. The conversations include stories about growing up, people's relationship with television, and Ken spits out a lot of trivia. You're the Expert is a new radio show on 90.9 WBUR, Boston's NPR news station. Hosted and produced by Chris Duffy, each show features an expert in a specialized field, along with a panel of 3 comedians. Through games, sketches, and hilariously misguided guesses, the comedians try to figure out what our expert studies all day. The show also features a discussion with our expert where we hear about their latest findings and why their field is important. You're the Expert bridges the gap between comedy and academia, in a show that's laugh-out-loud funny but also packed full of meaningful information. This very special installment is co-presented by the Cambridge Science Festival.

Founded in 2008, The Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival is the world’s first sincere-and-ironic comedy festival that celebrates a close-knit comedy community, while making fun of the trappings of comedy festivals.


The independent and grassroots event is produced by Pretty Good Friends: Eugene Mirman and Julie Smith Clem. It takes place in Brooklyn every September and in Boston/Cambridge every spring.


Performers participate in the festival because of their enthusiasm for this dumb, but charming, annual tradition.
