Join us for a night of music with award-winning solo cellist Elad Kabilio. He will perform two Bach pieces and two pieces by later composers inspired by Bach’s work. Kabilio will introduce each composer and share fascinating anecdotes. Come to enjoy and learn about some of the most exquisite works for unaccompanied cello.
The evening will begin with a welcome reception from 6-7 pm, followed by the performance from 7-8 pm, and concluding with a wine and cheese reception from 8-9 pm.
Israeli cellist Elad Kabilio is an active soloist, chamber musician, and teaching artist. He has recently performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Morgan Library, the Aspen Music Festival, the Young Artist Festival in Bayreuth, Germany, the Chautaqua Music Festival, and on “Young Artist Showcase” on WQXR Radio. In 2010, he founded MusicTalks, a chamber music series. He is the recipient of America-Israel Cultural Foundation grants, Jerusalem Music Center’s “Young Musicians Group,” second prize at the Buchmann-Mehta string competition, and the “Orchestra Excellence Award” from Maestro Zubin Mehta.

The Athenæum's five galleried floors overlook the peaceful Granary Burying Ground, and, as Gamaliel Bradford wrote in 1931, "it is safe to say that [no library] anywhere has more an atmosphere of its own, that none is more conducive to intellectual aspiration and spiritual peace." The building was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
