Earth Week is a weeklong series of events on the environment and climate change leading up to Earth Day (April 22, 2023). Join us for conversations, performances and more focused on celebrating and protecting our planet.

Attention families! Join Science Friday at CitySpace during Massachusetts school vacation week for a science fair exploring the ways scientists, educators and engineers are inventing solutions to climate change, creating sustainable systems and learning from the natural world around us. Come ask a tree a question! Learn what frogs have to teach us! Try your hand at building your own remotely operated vehicle and more! Kids of all ages, families and caregivers welcome (interactive stations are best suited for middle school-aged students).

Registrants may be contacted by CitySpace about this or future events.

Boston Children’s Museum

Change Is Simple

Sustainability and the climate crisis are important issues to understand—but how do we inspire young learners to create change themselves? Learn the steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint, understand local soil health and composting, and more!

Harvard Forest Witness Tree

The Harvard Forest Witness Tree is a century old Red Oak tree that has been fully wired with sensors that measure its growth, activity and many real time environmental factors happening around it. Come and ask it a question! Trees record a pattern of environmental change in their growth rings. Learn how forest scientists use tree rings to better understand the history of these changes and how trees can help fight against climate change.

MIT Sea Grant & Edgerton Center

SeaPerch II is ready for launch! Find out how you can build and navigate a remotely-operated vehicle, or ROV, that can be sent to measure pressure, depth, and temperature in our local waterways.

Native Plant Trust

All life on Earth depends on plants—they provide oxygen, food and habitat, regulate the climate and clean the water. Native plants are the cornerstone of Earth’s ecosystems and the base of the food chain that leads to our dinner tables. Combine science and art to create a take-home masterpiece, and learn how to look out and care for the unique plants of New England.

Science Friday

Explore biodiversity as you Design a Frog! Select an environment, pick attributes to help your frog survive and thrive, then get creative and model with clay. Plus, discover frog-focused Crowd Science projects your family can do together!
