Mark Earley was transfigured when he bought a Howlin' Wolf record and an $8.00 Marine Band harmonica in his pre-teen years. This self-taught singer/harmonica player/guitarist—who cut his teeth at the legendary 1369 Jazz Club in the early 1980s with mentors and local legends "Earring" George Mayweather and Silas Hubbard, Jr.—has been fronting The Earley Birds with his longtime musical collaborator and guitarist Lawrence Sortwell. Together they sift through the American roots music catalog to perform discriminating interpretations of obscure classics.
