Check out the hardest reggae in town every Thursday night at Bull McCabe's. Born out of this continuing weekly residency, the Dub Down is a musical collaboration and a social movement.
The Scotch Bonnet Band is comprised of Boston’s most renowned musicians. Led by bassist Geoff Scott (Public House, Miracle Orchestra) and drummer Nathan Sabanayagam (Naya Records) the group is rounded out by guitarist Van Gordon Martin (Spritual Rez) and keyboadist Zack Brines (Pressure Cooker, Kings of Nuthin). Together and individually, Scotch Bonnet has backed and shared the stage with reggae legends including: Toots Hibbert, Third World, Burning Spear, Ken Boothe, Barrington Levy, Derrick Morgan, Kiddus I, Bob Andy, The Congos, and more. The Dub Down features six vocalists also hailing from the Boston scene: Skiffington Ruglass bring us back to Halfway Tree and downtown Kingston, acclaimed songwriter Sarah Brindell, Craig Akira Fujita (Joint Chiefs, Pressure Cooker), a Boston home grown front man; Jimmy Trapella (The Well); and the heavy Cambridge-based MC Kabir; and Tom O'Brien.
