Greater Ashmont Main Street and Mandorla Music are very pleased to co-present the 2019-2020 Dot Jazz Series at Peabody Hall in the Parish of All Saints Ashmont. Dot Jazz will take place on the second Thursday of the month from September 2019 until May 2020, with the exception of April when we'll be on the third Thursday. Doors open at 7pm. Concerts are $15, free for youth under 18.
Our November concert will features Plamen Karadonev and his band. Karadonev came to Boston from his native Bulgaria in the mid '90s and has been a familiar face on the local scene since. He's played with greats like Randy Brecker, Jimmy Cobb, David Liebman and Jerry Bergonzi, with whom he often plays these days - and with whom he appeared at Dot Jazz in early 2019. Plamen (piano, accordion and compositions) will be joined by Charles Overton on harp and Austin McMahon on drums. They'll play Plamen's compositions, which are influenced by Eastern European folklore, 20th century classical music and other contemporary styles with a jazz foundation. They'll be joined on some numbers by vocalist Elena Koleva.
