ABOUT BIMC:
The 2024 Boston International Music Competition (BIMC) is recruiting young music talents from around the world to participate. This grand music event is jointly founded and organized by several professors from WeStar Academy of Music, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, and the Department of Music of Harvard University. This year, the BIMC competition has expanded its scope and will cover four categories of Voice, Piano, Strings and Other Instruments, and continues to offer a competition prize budget up to US$20,000, thanks to the WeStar Music Education Foundation. The judges of the competition are composed of world-renowned professors from top music schools and famous musicians. We currently have 18 judges this year.
The competition will attract contestants from different countries and regions, with age requirements ranging from 5 to 25 years old. Adult contestants aged 19 to 25 are divided into music major groups and non-music major groups. Last year’s competition attracted contestants from 12 different countries and regions. The youngest contestant was a 5-year-old pianist from Turkey. In previous years, the competition was reported by more than 50 medias with viewing by nearly one million people.
BIMC is not only an international music competition, but also provides a stage for teenagers and young musicians to showcase their talents. The BIMC final competition will be held live in Boston on July 6th, 2024, followed by the winners' concert, awards ceremony, and various masterclasses. This will be a wonderful music festival for young musicians to gather together to celebrate their passion and love in music in Boston, a famous cultural and artistic city! The mission of the Boston International Music Competition is to promote the beauty of music, to recruit outstanding musical talents, and to encourage young people to love music and benefit their academic development. We also hope to promote cultural exchange and understanding between different countries and regions.

BIMC CATEGORIES:
(1)-Voice (V), (2)-Piano (P), (3)-Strings (S), 4-Other Instruments (O)
AGE CODES:
A - Elementary (5-10 years old)
B - Junior (11-14 years old)
C - Senior (15-18 years old)
D1 - Young Artist (19-25 years old): Non-Music Major
D2 - Young Artist (19-25 years old): Music Major
So, there are a total of 20 groups among the 4 categories. Group Codes are like VA, VB, VC, VD1, VD2, PA, PB, PC, PD1, PD2, SA, SB, SC, SD1, SD2, OA, OB, OC, OD1, OD2
ELIGIBILITY:
(1) BIMC welcomes talent teenagers and musicians of all nationalities from the age of 5 up to 25 as of the date of April 7th, 2024
(2) Please select the correct group in your application and pay the appropriate fee based on the number of the team members
(3) One team can choose up to 4 categories for different instruments, in which case submitting multiple applications for the chosen categories are needed
(4) Each application must submit just ONE video of one performance for the competition
(5) Videos cannot be submitted more than once (i.e. submitting the same video in multiple applications)
(6) Any participant who is enrolled currently in or graduated from a music college level school must choose the category D2 -Young Artist with Music Major
BIMC Round 1 Preliminary Application Fee:
For detailed information of the competition, please refer to BIMC website: www.bimc.us. When you make the payment, please make sure to choose the right Team Size and input the exact number of your team members to ensure the correct amount in the application fee.
(1) Solo (1 person): $128/person
(2) Team (2-5 members): $120/person
(3) Team (6-12 members): $110/person
(4) Team (13-20 members): $100/person
(5) Team (21 members or more): $98 /person
AWARD CERTIFICATES AND PRIZES:
(1) First Place Winners in every age groups of Non-Music Major (A, B, C, or D1) for all categories will receive Certificates and $200 prize awards
(2) First Place Winners in the age groups of Young Artist Music Major (D2) for all categories will receive Certificates and $800 prize awards
(3) Second Place Winners in every age groups of Non-Music Major (A, B, C, or D1) for all categories will receive Certificates and $150 prize awards
(4) Second Place Winners in the age groups of Young Artist Music Major (D2) for all categories will receive Certificates and $400 prize awards
(5) Third Place Winners in every age groups for all categories will receive Certificates and $100 prize awards
(6) Best Stage Performance Award Winners in every age groups for all categories will receive Certificates only
(7) Outstanding Achievement Award (Finalists), Excellent Achievement Award (Semi-Finalists) and Honorable Award Winners in every age groups for all categories will receive Certificates only
