On both his last release (Small Mistakes), and his debut (Good For You Know Who), actor and songwriter Brendan Hines crafted accounts of life in a new city after leaving his native Baltimore to seek work in New York and Los Angeles. He found it, in a variety of film and television projects (The Tick, Scandal, Suits, Lie To Me) but it was a tour as a support act for The Milk Carton Kids that first introduced a wider audience to the sobering drinking songs, withering wordplay, and wry post-romantic commentary that are his stock in trade, earning him friends and fans on both coasts and perhaps a few enemies in between. His newest record, Qualms, written and recorded the weekend after Election Day, will be available in late Spring of 2017; it is a rock album.
