Cuban band "El Septeto Santiaguero" announces tour in the US to celebrate launch of new album.

Cuban band winner of the Latin Grammy in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album, "El Septeto Santiaguero," has announced a summer tour to celebrate the launch of its new album, "Raíz." The tour will begin July 19 and will extend across 15 cities, including New York, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelphia.

The band, that has been described as the "closest to becoming successors of the Buena Vista Social Club," will also celebrate an album release party at Lowell Folk Festival in Boston on July 29.

"We are so excited to be able to share our new album, 'Raiz,'" said band director Fernando Dewar. "We've received so much support and enthusiasm for this album, that we are eager to share our production with the supporters of our Cuban music."

Dewar also mentioned that the album includes 14 songs and two bonus tracks which feature cuban rhythms like son, guaracha, bolero, trova, and changüi, and he explained that the production is a chronological journey through the work of great Cuban songwriters that have been meaningful to the musical trajectory of Septeto Santiaguero. The production also features the collaboration of jazz stars like Nicholas Payton and Arturo O´Farrill; and famous salsa stars like Rubén Blades (and his alter ego Medoro Madera), Charlie Aponte, Alfredo de la Fe and Reinaldo Creagh (lead vocalist of the legendary Vieja Trova Santiaguera, who passed away shortly after recording the production).

"Raiz" was recorded in studios in Santiago de Cuba, La Habana, San Juan, Bogotá, New Orleans, New Jersey y Nueva York by a group of famous and accoladed engineers. It was mixed in Santiago de Cuba and Madrid, and mastered in Miami by the talented Ronnie Torres.

About Septeto Santiaguero
It was founded on February 2, 1995 in Santiago de Cuba, the cradle of son and bolero. Its repertoire is a journey through the different styles and rhythms of pupular cuban music, with an emphasis on the traditional. It includes the work of classic authors like Miguel Matamoros and Ñico Saquito, in perfect agreement with the work of contemporary cuban authors.

The Septeto Santiaguero has performed in more than 50 stages around the world. It's precious production, "No quiero llanto - Tributo a Los Compadres," is a collaboration with Jose 'El Canario' Alberto which received a 2016 Latin Grammy nomination and won the 2015 Latin Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Album. It was also ranked as one of the best sellers in Cuba.
