Join the Society of Arts + Crafts and Code Listen for a live music performance by a Boston Youth-Police group alongside an exhibition of disabled guns transformed into art objects.


Code Listen is a musical group of police officers and teens from Mattapan and Dorchester. Led by the City of Boston's Artist-In-Residence Shaw Pong Liu, the group will perform their original music alongside the Society's current exhibition, I.M.A.G.I.N.E Peace Now—a collection of disabled guns transformed into works of art.


Code Listen is a collaborative project between musician Shaw Pong Liu, Boston Police Department, the City of Boston’s Office of Arts and Culture, and community organizations including Teen Empowerment using music to support healing and dialogue between police officers and community members on difficult topics of gun violence, racism, and police practices. The Code Listen band is comprised of 5 Boston Police members from across the city, and 8 teen artists from Teen Empowerment and the Mattapan Teen Center who came together through a series of 7 workshops and 4 community performances in July and August of 2016.
