Arlington, MA (October 2017) – Celebrating 25 years of performances, and recently voted one of “12 Great Children’s Theaters Across the US” by Backstage Magazine, Arlington Children’s Theatre (ACT) is thrilled to announce their performances of the beloved classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. ACTors ages 7-13 will recreate the magical story of Charlie Bucket and his fateful tour of Willy Wonka’s candy factory. The shows feature two full casts of ACTors from Arlington and five neighboring communities including Belmont, Cambridge, Medford, Lexington and Somerville.
Performances of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be held on Friday November 17th - Sunday, November 19th. All performances take place at Arlington Masonic Temple, located at 19 Academy Street. Tickets are $10.00 and available online here.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was first published in 1964 and has been adapted for the big screen twice. Gene Wilder starred in 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and in 2005 Johnny Depp starred in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The story follows 11 year-old Charlie Bucket who wins the chance to tour the mysterious factory of the eccentric candy maker, Willy Wonka. Joining Charlie on the tour are fellow Golden Ticket holders, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teavee. Valuable lessons are learned inside the factory as the children sample exotic treats, meet Oompa-Loompas and get into adventures, sometimes with unpleasant results.
