The Chameleon Arts Ensemble resumes its 2016-17 chamber music series with a poignant program of memories and elegies titled “shadows of their voices.” Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 is a grand work of heartfelt depth in tribute to his friend and mentor Nikolai Rubenstein. Luciano Berio offers a shimmering memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King with “O King” for voice and chamber ensemble. The rarely-heard, yet superb British composer Gordon Jacob’s 1956 Sextet in B-flat for piano & winds, Op. 6 is a work of immediate emotional impact, composed in memory of a friend and colleague. Finally, Simon Bainbridge with his Four Primo Levi Settings for soprano, clarinet, viola, and piano, illuminates a quietly powerful voice of compassion and humanity. Tickets are $47, $36 or $25 with $5 off for students and seniors. Saturday, March 4 at 8 PM at First Church in Boston and Sunday, March 5 at 4 PM at Goethe-Institut, Boston. For more information or to order tickets, please call 617-427-8200 or visit http://www.chameleonarts.org.
