Organized by (REEP) ROXBURY ENVIRONMENTAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT youth on July 28, 2018 will bring over 100 young people to be gathered at our annual Youth Summit. This year’s summit THEME is “Challenge me: By what I have to SAY not by my SKIN!” Ignorance is taking over the minds of our community. You think you know but you have not been in my shoes or environment. Your prejudice will not define my Gender, my education, my culture, my ethnicity, my political will, my nutrition, my state of mind. Together we must restore our identities!


Young people from Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea and Dorchester attended the all-day summit, which features youth-led workshops, art projects, an open mic and a ways to get involved. In addition throughout the day leading workshops on topics spanning from Community organizing methods and theory of change to community resiliency and fighting racism, sexism and homophobia. Exploring why such diverse ethnic groups find unities in colorism?


Other activities include Youth team building, art battle, musical chairs, design your own T-shirt painting, make button-makings and design your vacant lot throughout the year. REEP active campaign "GROW OR DIE" will be continue to reclaim vacant land onto land trust to slow down gentrification and provide alternatives that can help us thrive as a community. We want to uplift and value the ideas being exchanged, highlight why our daily struggles occur and being part of movement devoted to helping youth develop their skills and abilities to become positive agents of change in their communities by challenging the comfort zone.
