Carnevale, Venetian Mardi Gras, arrives at Victory Point in Marina Bay

Carnevale is the Venetian version of Mardi Gras – a colorful celebration highlighted by elaborate costumes, masks, music, dancing and great Italian food and drink. Carnevale in Venice dates back to the 12th century! 
 
The celebration is near and dear to the hearts of the Frattaroli Family, natives of Italy known as the “First Family of the North End” who today are re-inventing the Marina Bay hospitality scene at Victory Point on the Boston waterfront (332 Victory Road, Quincy; 617-481-1070, [email protected]). 
 
Victory Point hosts a festive Carnevale party Friday night (Feb. 21) starting at 7 p.m. 
 
Guests are invited to – but not required to – wear their favorite Venetian-style Carnevale masks. Don’t own one? Don’t worry! 
 
Versions of Carnevale masks are available at most American party stores (check out Party City in Quincy Center, among many others). You can find more elaborate versions online, from traditional Italian retailers, including the Original Venice Shop, which delivers Carnevale masks and costumes all over the world.
 
Victory Point’s Carnevale will feature great food, drink, music and dancing. There will be prizes for best masks and costumes. The party is free to attend, with cash bar and menu.
