"Samodivi" is the dynamic duo of marimba player Vessela Stoyanova and percussionist Nate Greenslit.


An off shoot of their larger band Bury Me Standing, the music of Samodivi is inspired by the beauty and rhythmical intricacies of Balkan music. The repertoire includes modern interpretations of old folk songs from the Balkan peninsula and the surrounding countries, as well as original compositions using that style as an inspiration. The unusual instrumentation - MIDI marimba and cajon - is just one aspect of the original and unusual point of view "Samodivi" holds about the music they play. One thing is certain, however - the music is as haunting and beautiful as the creatures this duo is named after.
