Join us at the Boston Nature Center to learn about bumble bees! Bumble bees are one of the most recognizable groups of bees in the world, but there are a lot of misconceptions about these fascinating creatures. Bumble bees are unique among our native bees, and in this program we will get acquainted with our local species and their life history. We will walk the grounds in search of these bees in action, so be sure to wear the appropriate attire for walking and the weather.

Many bumble species are facing declines, including some that are found here in Massachusetts. Learning more about these creatures is the best first step toward their conservation, so come prepared to get your myths dispelled and interest piqued!

Led by native bee enthusiast Kalimah Mustafa-Widberg (she/they). Kalimah has been sharing their love of bees by educating the public since 2014 when a bee research project sparked a passion that has lasted nearly a decade! While she truly loves all insects, she is especially interested in the foraging and nesting preferences of the at-risk bees native to Northeastern United States.
