Razia Jan's story showcases how one woman's activism is bringing life-affirming opportunity to girls and young women in her native Afghanistan. An immigrant who built her own entrepreneurial business in Duxbury, Razia Jan has dedicated herself to transforming her faith in education as a path out of oppression into concrete reality. Razia's determination and tireless efforts to rally support for her dream resulted in the Zabuli Education Center, a free, all-girls K-12 school in rural Afghanistan. Now, the Razia Jan Institute for Midwifery is opening up employment for women and bringing medical services to desperately under-served areas in Afghanistan. Razia's commitment to education as a key to positive, peaceful change for future generations has been captured in the documentary What Tomorrow Brings and honored by awards including CNN Top 10 Hero.
