The 2019 Tanglewood season will also see the BSO and Tanglewood debut of Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare, who leads the orchestra on Saturday, August 10, in Carreño’s Margaritena, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Nikolai Lugansky, and Brahms’s Symphony No. 1.

The TMC prelude concert on Saturday, August 10 features The New Fromm Players and other Tanglewood Music Center Fellows in the American premiere of Poul Ruders’s String Quartet No. 3, Ruth Crawford Seeger’s Quartet, and Israeli-American composer Chaya Czernowin’s Anea Crystal for two string quartets.
