Boston's Oldest Buildings and Where to Find Them: Author Talk with Boston City Archaeologist Joseph Bagley

As one of the oldest cities in America, Boston continues to maintain much of its original architecture and colonial character, even as it grows and develops to meet the demands of modern sensibilities. Sites ranging from homes to churches and warehouses to restaurants allow tourists and residents alike to gain a deeper understanding of how Bostonians through the centuries lived, worked, and played. In this virtual program, join Boston City Archaeologist Joseph M. Bagley on an evocative journey into Boston's past as he recounts the historical significance of some of the city's architectural treasures and the efforts made to preserve them.

Bagley's latest book, upon which this talk is based, is "Boston's Oldest Buildings and Where to Find Them." Bagley is also the author of "A History of Boston in 50 Artifacts" that tells the story of the area's past from about 12,000 BP through the twentieth century.

The proceeds from this program benefit Historic New England, the Loring Greenough House, a 1760 mansion in the city's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, and the Paul Revere House in Boston's North End.
