With the musical direction of Martin Pearlman and staging by Mark Streshinsky, Boston Baroque performs Monteverdi's opera "Il Ritorno D'Ulisse in Patria," ("The Return of Ulysses in his Homeland"). When Ulisse finds himself shipwrecked on the shores of his native Ithaca after his victory in Troy, he learns that his wife, Penelope, has spent the long years mourning him and fending off the advances of power-hungry suitors; returning to Penelope in disguise, Ulysses wins her hand again and restores his kingdom by passing a test that only he could pass. This performance features Boston Baroque's period-instrument orchestra and chorus, and performances by guest soloists Fernando Guimarães (Tenor), and Jennifer Rivera (Mezzo-Soprano) in the roles of Ulisse and Penelope.
Dates and Times: Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets range from $35.00 - $95.00
