Help send packages to incarcerated people waiting for books!


Always wanted to volunteer with BTB, but can't make it to our regular packing sessions? Want to do something meaningful for an hour or two? Then come join us!


What we do: we send free books to people who are incarcerated in PA, NJ, MD, VA, NY, and WV. At the packathon volunteers will read letters from individuals who are incarcerated and try to match the book request with a book from our library. Volunteers will also be wrapping up books and getting them ready for the mail.


You can come at any time between 10AM - 7 PM and our hosts will show you what to do!

If you have brown paper grocery bags you would like to donate before the event, we can definitely use them!

Books Through Bars packing sessions take place in the A-Space.


The A-Space anarchist social center aims to facilitate anti-authoritarian social struggle as well as provide space for cultural events. We want to create a place for face-to-face interactions beyond and against the systems that keep us separated, through art, organizing, food and discussion.


Anyone organizing an event at the A-Space is expected to ensure that it is not authoritarian, pro-state, capitalist, patriarchal, white supremacist, cissexist, ableist, or fall in line with any ideology that fosters domination. Everyone in the space is encouraged to take initiative to prevent and disrupt any oppressive behavior in line with these ideologies.
The A-Space is a drug and alcohol free space.
