Founded in 1973, the award-winning Blacksmith House Poetry Series brings established and emerging writers of poetry and fiction to Harvard Square. In person readings will take place at 56 Brattle on Mondays at 8pm. Admission is $3. Please register in advance.


Stuart Dischell

Stuart Dischell is the author of Good Hope Road (Viking), a National Poetry Series Selection, Evenings & Avenues (Penguin)Dig Safe (Penguin)Backwards Days (Penguin), Standing on Z (Unicorn), Children with Enemies (Chicago), and The Lookout Man (Chicago). A recipient of awards from the NEA, the North Carolina Arts Council, the Ledig-Rowohlt Foundation and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, he is the Class of 1952 Excellence Professor in the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.


David Rivard

David Rivard’s new collection, Some of You Will Know, will be published by Arrowsmith Press in Fall 2022. His previous book, Standoff, was awarded the 2017 PEN/New England Prize in poetry and was listed by The New Yorker in its “Books We Loved in 2016” roundup. His five other books include Otherwise ElsewhereSugartown, and Wise Poison, winner of the James Laughlin Prize from the Academy of American Poets and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award. His poems and essays appear in the American Poetry Review, Tin House, PloughsharesPoetry London, and other magazines. Among his awards are fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the O.B. Hardison Poetry Prize from the Folger Shakespeare Library in recognition of both his writing and teaching. He teaches in the MFA in Writing Program at the University of New Hampshire, and lives in coastal Maine.
