Plein Air Reimagined
The impressionist painters were very interested in natural light and began painting outdoors.. This was the beginning of plein- air painting.. These paintings are infused with the exceptional light that these painters saw in nature.
My plein-air paintings have started outdoors and have been completed in the studio. The experience of what I see outside is combined with my abstract sensibility. Subsequently these paintings are my expressionistic response to the actual landscapes. Some of the paintings are accompanied by photographs of the image so that the transition from photo to painting can be seen and understood.
