Ben Folds is well known for his catchy piano-driven power-pop (heard in songs like "Brick," "Army" and "You Don't Know Me"), but on his current acclaimed worldwide tour, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter is showing a different side of his songwriting. He'll be teaming with the Boston Pops to perform his three-movement Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, which Folds describes as "proudly and overtly derivative." Channeling the works of composers like Ravel and Gershwin, Folds pushes the bounds of traditional orchestral music with the piece. You'll get a chance to hear some of Folds' more rockin' hits in this genre-blending concert at Boston Symphony Hall. And, as with any Ben Folds concert, the witty performer is sure to throw in a few improvisational surprises along the way.
