In this class you will learn how fighting skills are developed within the system, such as drills to improve reaction time, how to control range and distance, how to move effectively, along with ways to block punches and intercept knife attacks. The different “training” and “fighting” stances will be introduced, as well as the real-life contexts in which they are used. You will also learn how to hold and strike a variety of pads safely, as well as how to generate power using bodyweight and hip/back/shoulder movement etc. Most importantly you will also learn some of the fundamental concepts and principles upon which the system is founded and how these have allowed for the system to evolve over time in order to deal with new threats and attacks.
