Bearmonster and John Powhida (rare solo set!) in an intimate early evening of alt R&B + power pop. The Lilypad in Inman Square, Cambridge. 7:30-9:30.
Bearmonster is Ken Schopf and Shaun Wolf Wortis, who've played together for a long time. Bearmonster represents a collision of new and old ideas. Eschewing the obvious rock duo reference points, Bearmonster marries the minimalism of guitar and drums with a variety of experimental loops and sonic manipulations.
John Powhida is a multiple Boston Music Award nominee and his songs have been featured in episodes of My Name is Earl and Men in Trees. He has sung on recordings by The Click Five, Sarah Borges and The Gentlemen. You may have seen him perform with The Rudds or John Powhida International Airport, but tonight he strips down for a rare solo spot.
