Carey McKinley is a performing artist, teaching artist and creative consultant based in Boston, MA. As an avid collaborator and connector, her artwork and productions meld dance, visual art, theatre and experience. During her residency from July 6 through August 2, 2015, Carey will create new work in collaboration with visual artist Carolyn Lewenberg. McKinley and Lewenberg will create and explore an environment using bittersweet vines. Carey will also host a series of workshops for high school students focused on social justice and the creative process.
Bittersweet is how life feels from one moment to the next. A shift in perspective, morphing sensations, bitter turned sweet or the other way around, and the all-confounding, both bitter and sweet at once. Choreographer Carey McKinley and sculptor Carolyn Lewenberg will create and ultimately destroy, an environment using bittersweet vines, bodies and moving images.
