Join the Parker Hill Branch for an author talk with debut authors Dr. Adaira Landry, MEd and Dr. Resa E. Lewiss to learn about their brand new book, MicroSkills: Small Actions, Big Impact. Both authors will discuss the concept of microskills, their experiences as medical professionals, and how microskills have helped them throughout their professional lives. They’ve compiled knowledge from their work environment in a way that can be applied across employment sectors, and will offer attendees tangible and practical steps towards better task management and organization, ultimately helping attendees attain long-term goals by building short-term pathways.


The talk will be moderated by Alister Martin MD MPP, who is an ER physician, Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Kennedy School, Senior Fellow at the Burnes Center for Social Change, and was a former Chief Resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. He served as an advisor in the Office of the Vice President under Kamala Harris and the White House Office of Public Engagement as an appointed White House Fellow. He served as a former Health Policy Aide to Governor Peter Shumlin of Vermont and Congressman Raul Ruiz of California. He leverages his background in politics, policy, and the field of behavioral economics to use healthcare settings as a place to build programs that serve the needs of vulnerable patients. He is the founder of Vot-ERGet Waivered, and GOTVax, He currently serves as CEO of A Healthier Democracy, a nonprofit healthcare organizing incubator which leverages healthcare workers and healthcare settings as a place to build programs and movements that serve the needs of vulnerable patients.


Adaira Landry, MD MEd is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. She is a keynote speaker and focuses her workshops and lectures on mentorship and workplace efficiency. She is a former Assistant Residency Director for the Harvard Emergency Medicine Residency Program. She is now an Academic Society Associate Director and Advisor for the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Landry is the Co-Chair for the Diversity and Inclusion Committee within the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine Office of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice. She is former Co-Director of a national mentoring program, Diversity Mentoring Initiative, hosted by national organizations Emergency Medicine Residents Association and Academic College of Emergency Physicians. She is an advisor for Academic Life in Emergency Medicine, a leading medical education online resource. She is a co-founder for Writing in Color, a nonprofit that is focused on teaching people of color how to write. She is a healthcare contributor for Forbes and has written for Teen Vogue, HBR, Fast Company, Vogue, Nature, and Science.


Resa E. Lewiss, MD is a professor of emergency medicine, TEDMED speaker, TimesUp Healthcare founder, designer, entrepreneur, and award winning educator, mentor, and point-of-care ultrasound specialist. She studied at Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, the NIH Howard Hughes Research Scholars Program, Harvard Emergency Medicine, and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Roosevelt. As host and founder of the Visible Voices Podcast, she interviews subject matter experts in the healthcare, equity, and current trends spaces. Her writings are published in scientific journals and the popular press, such as Harvard Business Review, Slate, Nature, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Fast Company.
