Join the Somerville Arts Council for a celebration of Mexican culture right in Union Square. Enjoy Mariachi band and folkloric dance performances, meet a Chihuahua, and enjoy Mexican inspired snacks. Afterwards, grab dinner at one of Union Square’s many restaurants to continue the celebration. Learn about the real significance of Cinco de Mayo: the celebration of a battle won during the Mexican French war. See metates, gabanes, sombreros, and cazuelas from Mexico, play Mexican loteria, and whack a pinata. Mark your calendars for this family friendly celebration!
