Art Talk with Michael Zambelli

Our Artist of the Month, Michael Zambelli, is an industrial designer whose paintings focus on structures, vehicles and products. His paintings go beyond just capturing an accurate representation of the various subjects: They are expressive and convey his feelings. Mr. Zambelli will be the speaker for our 2nd Wednesday Art Talk on July 11th at 1 pm. and 3 pm. The 1pm is already filled so please let us know if you want to join us for the 3 pm. Michael will have special stories to share as he will have just returned from Italy!
Michael has sent me the following:
"As artists, we create for a reason. Most artists have a drive to create and most understand that it's an internal requirement to express their emotions. It's a wonderful non-verbal way to say something. One can paint to express happiness, extreme anxiety, the desire to shock, or simply to record something the way you as an artist sees it. Works of art convey the thoughts and ideas of the artist. The purpose on my talk is to discuss the why I paint the things I paint. I will illustrate the path I took starting with interests from early childhood that led to a career in design and show some art along the way. That "design experience" and related interests (my collections and interest in automobiles) is what makes me the artist that I am today and its impact will be conveyed in my presentation .

- I will introduce the group to the profession of industrial design with a brief historical reference and show a few career highlights. For designers, efficiency is key in developing ideas and conveying them quickly. The methodology that I've used throughout my career has greatly impacted my painting technique. I will first show a quick overview of my paintings and where I started. I will then walk through the stages of my painting process, the technique and what I try to achieve in my paintings (the importance of having your own voice, a little mystery and emotion).

- If there is time, I will briefly discuss the benefits of social media, having a web page and my Italy trip."
