Please join us for the 40th annual spring festival of art and floral design!


Once again, garden clubs and professional designers from across New England will create floral arrangements inspired by the MFA’s magnificent works of art. Art in Bloom is open during regular Museum hours (10 am–4:45 pm) and is free with Museum admission; no reservations are required to see the floral arrangements and participate in many of the programs listed below. Tickets for ticketed events on sale February 25, 2016, at 10 am. Sneak Peek starts Friday April 29 at 5 pm

Hitomi Gilliam: Master Class
Saturday, April 30, 10:30 am–12:30 pm
Receive hands-on flower design instruction from a master of contemporary floral design. Members $225, nonmembers $270


Hitomi Gilliam: NeoFlora: A Fresh Look at the Art of Flowers
Saturday, April 30, 2–4 pm in Remis Auditorium
A floral demonstration and lecture by Hitomi Gilliam exploring the latest methods, mechanics, and techniques for designing with new and exciting varieties of flowers.
Members $60, nonmembers $70

Get a sneak peek at the 51 freshly installed arrangements. Make an evening of it with a self-guided tour, or enjoy dinner or cocktails at one of the Museums restaurants.


Celebrate Art in Bloom with Ikebana
Saturday, April 30, 3-4 pm in Alfond Auditorium
Join floral designers from the three Ikebana Schools—Ikenobo, Sogetsu and Ohara—creating designs showcasing the design concepts of their particular school.


Member Night
Saturday, April 30, 6-9 pm
A Members-only viewing of the MFA’s 40th Art in Bloom with tours, entertainment, shopping and dining. Admission based on membership privileges.

Sunday, May 1, 10 am–4 pm
Celebrate Art in Bloom with family-friendly programming and entertainment.


Organic Gardening: Global, Regional, Local, Individual
Sunday, May 1, 3–4 pm in Alfond Auditorium
Join David Pendergast of Agora Gardens as he discusses returning to healthy methods of growing food, globally and locally. Learn about why organic is the way to go, building community gardens, and what individual gardeners can do for the organic movement.


Creative Sustainability on The Rose Kennedy Greenway
Monday, May 2, 11 am–Noon in Remis Auditorium
Join senior horticulturist and designer Darrah Cole on a visual tour of the Greenway parks and features as seen through the lens of its organic horticulture program.
