South Street Gallery will once again offer its "Art Appraisal Day" on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hingham resident Arthur Garrity, a professional fine art appraiser, will offer verbal appraisals at the Gallery at 149 South Street. Etchings, prints or original oil or watercolor paintings may be submitted for review. There is a fee of $15 per one appraisal, $25 for two appraisals or $33 for three appraisals. There is a limit of three items per customer per visit. Please, call 781-749-0430 to reserve a spot!
All of the proceeds will be donated to South Shore SNAP which stands for Special Needs Athletic Partnership. It is a non-profit organization which provides athletic and recreational activities for children and young adults (ages 3 – 22) with cognitive and physical disabilities. Their after-school and weekend activities, as well as their five-week Summer Program, are staffed by volunteers who all feel a strong passion for enriching the lives of people with special needs. Their programs are made possible by their big-hearted coaches and mentors, as well as through the generous donations from their supporters.
Arthur Garrity is nationally recognized for his art research and appraisal work. Museums, individuals, corporations, and attorneys have utilized his services. To aid him in these endeavors he draws on his art reference library of approximately 4,000 volumes on artist and art history. This is an excellent opportunity for people to get a professional evaluation of art that may have been in their household or family for years. Individuals may wish to know this information for any number of reasons, whether they want to sell, insure, or just for their own knowledge.
