A Special Reading Featuring 2017 Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP) Summer Teen Fellows

Join GrubStreet and the Boston Athenæum for a special reading featuring GrubStreet's 2016 Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP) Summer Teen Fellows. Each year, GrubStreet's Summer Teen Fellowship immerses high school students in the writer’s life of creative craft and publishing. During three weeks at GrubStreet, teens work with published authors on original prose and poetry, meet with literary agents and editors, take field trips to inspirational locales, and more. In the spirit of writers’ residencies for adults, all teens receive stipends for their commitment to the program and their time spent as working writers. On the final evening of the fellowship, the teen fellows read their work as part of a celebration of their huge accomplishments. Please join us at the Boston Athenæum in honor of their achievements.

GrubStreet is one of the nation's leading creative writing centers, located in the heart of Boston. Through various workshops, seminars, events, and programs, its mission is to support writers at all stages of development.

Registration is not required.

The Athenæum's five galleried floors overlook the peaceful Granary Burying Ground, and, as Gamaliel Bradford wrote in 1931, "it is safe to say that [no library] anywhere has more an atmosphere of its own, that none is more conducive to intellectual aspiration and spiritual peace." The building was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
