JP Concerts presents some of Boston's finest singers, all local residents, in "A Christmas Concert for the Community" on Saturday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, Jamaica Plain. The program features beautiful and beloved music for Christmas from around the world plus an audience sing-along of favorite songs and carols.
The singers — soprano Laura Chritton, mezzo-soprano D’Anna Fortunato, tenor Michael Calmès, baritone Philip Lima, and baritone Carl Wrubel — are accompanied by virtuoso pianist William Merrill.
This fourth annual Christmas concert for the community includes songs and carols from England, France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, and the U.S. The program includes wonderful arrangements of Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful), A La Nanita Nana, Cantique de Nöel (O Holy Night), Do You Hear What I Hear, People Look East, The Wexford Carol, and much more. The audience sing-along includes traditional favorites for grown-up and kids alike.
Tickets are $10 at the door; kids 10 and under free. A portion of the proceeds support the programs of St. John’s Church.
