The 7th Annual "Some Like it Hot Chili Cook-off" returns to Harvard Square on Saturday, January 31st - a precursor to the Super Bowl! Bundle up and join us for this fabulous, festive and FREE outdoor winter event!

Come sample chili from Harvard Square's HOTTEST restaurants between 1:00pm - 2:30pm on Brattle Plaza (in front of Brattle Florist, 31 Brattle Street). Taste them all and vote for your favorite! The restaurant with the most votes will be presented with the highly coveted Harvard Square Chili Pot! Participants include: Beat Hotel, FiRE + iCE, Grafton Street Pub & Grill, Grendel's Den, J.P. Licks, Kennedy's on the Square, Russell House Tavern, Salt & Olive, The Sinclair, Tasty Burger and UNO. While you are there, enjoy Harvard Square favorites, The Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band, a “raucous, stomp-your-foot-and-belt-out-the-choruses” New Orleans-style street band based in Somerville & Cambridge.

New this year! Come meet our celebrity judges: Jimmy Tingle, Susan Cattaneo and Jenna Norton.

Jimmy Tingle is regarded as one of the top social and political humorists in America. He has worked as a stand-up comic, producer, writer, actor, filmmaker and commentator in several mediums from the early 1980’s to the present day. Tingle was born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts where the social, political and economic diversity of that city laid the groundwork for his development as a performer and satirist.

Singer/songwriter, Susan Cattaneo has been a songwriting professor at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music for 13 years. She’s written songs covered by numerous artists in Nashville and her tunes helped launch the careers of Jillian Cardanelli and Erica Nicole. Cattaneo has released four albums of mostly upbeat, catchy pop-country music, with her latest being the 2014 release, “Haunted Heart”. You’ll hear a blend of country, folk, rock and soul with sparkles of blues and folk – music that would slide into the comfort zone for fans of Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter or Sheryl Crow.

Jenna Norton, an employee of Boston Children’s Hospital, is a Texas native. According to Norton, she ‘loves chili, makes the best chili, and has participated in consuming much chili at the Houston Rodeo Chili Cook-Off since young adulthood’.

Make sure you stop by an visit our partners, Food Should Taste Good, Mix 104.1 Wellness on Wheels and Camp Waziyatah.
