The fabulous 19-piece Compaq Big Band’s first event with a live audience in 491 days! We’re going to be featured on the Fourth of July at a FREE, public outdoor concert at Masconomo Park in the incredibly quaint town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts (nestled on the ocean just south of Gloucester).
In addition to some great patriotic-themed tunes appropriate to the day, we’re hittin’ the audience with the best of our high-energy concert book arrangements old and new - Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Gordon Goodwin, Tom Kubis, Callum Au, and Chris Walden (just a little brain teaser from the last name: “May The Fourth Be With You!”)
Renowned jazz vocalist Renee Dupuis from Gloucester will be out in front with signature tunes as performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Schuur, Tierney Sutton, Natalie Cole, and more.
The concert runs 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Weather permitting. Bring a blanket and/or lawn chair. Masconomo Park is located at 60 Beach Street – come early to find parking and a good spot in front of the bandstand! Note that the event was originally scheduled with Covid-19 gathering rules, but since the lifting of those this concert is TOTALLY OPEN to the general public, without restrictions.
Manchester-by-the-Sea is on the MBTA Rockport commuter rail line, with the concert venue a 2-block walk from the train station. The town has many quaint shops as well as great places for sustenance and libation before/after the show.
